How is the USA Today Network SEC All-Sports Award figured?
Points are awarded based on the number of teams competing in a sport (for example – 14 teams compete in SEC baseball, giving the winner 14 points, runner-up gets 13, etc. Four teams compete in sports equestrian, awarding four points to the winner). A program’s point total is divided by the total number of teams competing in the school’s sports fields and this quotient ranks the teams in the final USA Today Network SEC All-Sports rankings. Cross-country, indoor and outdoor athletics sports are combined. A program’s outdoor track finish accounts for half of that, while the remaining two quarters are based on cross-country and indoor finishes.
