Best SRX in Stafford

Before you tune in to Saturday’s race, you need to see SportsLine’s advanced computer model choices. SportsLine’s proprietary race model simulates each race 10,000 times, taking into account a host of factors including track history and recent results.

Last season the model was all over Stewart finishing top of the SRX Series standings at Eldora. The model also called Stewart a winner in Knoxville, and now he’s signed up for Saturday’s SRX race at South Boston Speedway. In 2021, the supermodel earned five of Kyle Larson’s wins in a historic NASCAR Cup Series season, and also went 15-10 on his head-to-head matchup predictions to start 2022. Earlier this season, Ross Chastain was high to win in Austin, giving him a much better chance of winning than his 40-1 odds implied. The model was also high on Joey Logano before winning as a 15-1 underdog at Darlington. Anyone who followed his lead on these games saw huge returns.

For Saturday’s race, the model predicts Tony Stewart will win his second straight race in a callback to last season. Last week, Stewart shrugged off a forgettable season opener in which he finished eighth in the second qualifying race and 10th in the main event. He flipped the script in South Boston by finishing 11th in the first moto and sixth in the second before winning in the main event. However, the first moto was marred by a fight between Stewart and Ernie Francis Jr. which seemed to trigger his fiery attitude in the following races.

Stewart certainly sent a message to fellow SRX riders that “Uncle Tony” isn’t interested in swapping paint with anyone as he tries to make a pass. If they took notice, they might be less inclined to reach out to one of the show’s co-founders on Saturday. In last week’s main event, Stewart also posted the fastest lap of them all at 00:16.017, and on another half-mile loop he should be ready to lead the pack again.
